1. Scope, operator, and acceptance
These Terms apply to the Ask Someone website, waitlist, and mentoring service once it launches. By joining the waitlist, creating an account, or using the service, you agree to these Terms, the Privacy Notice, and the Community Guidelines.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to accept these Terms. Use of the service is personal unless we expressly approve an organisation-based programme. You may not use the service if doing so would violate applicable law.
3. What the platform provides
Ask Someone helps people discover one another and arrange free, one-to-one online conversations. We provide the platform and community rules; participants remain responsible for their conversations, decisions, conduct, and follow-up.
The service is free. We do not process mentoring fees, take commissions, employ mentors, or promise that a particular person, session, or outcome will be available.
4. Accounts and accurate information
- Provide accurate, current information and use one account unless approved otherwise.
- Describe your experience honestly and do not claim qualifications, licences, employers, or results you do not have.
- Keep your contact details, topics, time zone, and availability current.
- Protect your sign-in details and tell us promptly if you believe your account has been misused.
- Do not create an account for another person or return through a new account after suspension without permission.
5. Scheduling responsibilities
Mentors
- Publish only time slots you genuinely expect to be available.
- Accept or decline each request. A request is not confirmed until accepted.
- Attend every accepted session on time or notify the mentee and cancel or reschedule as early as reasonably possible.
Mentees
- Request a session only when you genuinely expect to attend.
- Provide a clear, relevant reason for the conversation.
- Attend on time or notify the mentor and cancel or reschedule as early as reasonably possible.
6. No-shows, inactivity, and deactivation
A no-show means failing to join an accepted session within 15 minutes of its scheduled start without reasonable notice to the other participant. A genuine emergency, material technical failure, or other circumstance outside your control will be considered.
Where practical, the first no-show will result in a reminder. Two no-shows within a rolling 90-day period may lead to temporary deactivation. We may also deactivate an account or mentor profile after six consecutive months without meaningful activity, current availability, or responses to requests.
Deactivation hides the profile and prevents new sessions; it does not automatically delete the account. A member may request reactivation by confirming their current availability and willingness to follow the rules. Serious concerns involving safety, fraud, impersonation, or illegal content may result in immediate restrictions while we review the issue.
7. No selling, pitching, or lead generation
Do not use mentoring to sell products or services, promote paid programmes, collect leads, push affiliate links, solicit investments, pressure someone into hiring or purchasing, or disguise recruitment or business development as mentoring.
You may truthfully explain your work when relevant, but you must not turn the session into a pitch or use contact information obtained through the service for unsolicited commercial follow-up.
8. Conduct, confidentiality, and recording
Follow the Community Guidelines. Do not harass, discriminate, threaten, impersonate, manipulate, or exploit another person. Ask only for information relevant to mentoring and do not disclose another person’s confidential or personal information without permission.
Do not record, transcribe, or use an automated meeting assistant unless every participant gives clear permission and the activity complies with applicable law.
9. Experience, not verified professional advice
Profiles and conversations reflect members’ own statements and experience. Unless expressly stated otherwise, we do not verify every identity, qualification, licence, employer, or claim.
Mentoring is educational and conversational. It does not create a lawyer-client, doctor-patient, financial adviser-client, employment, or similar professional relationship. You remain responsible for checking information and deciding whether and how to act on it.
10. User content and platform rights
You keep ownership of content you submit. You give us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide licence to host, copy, format, display, and process it only as needed to operate, secure, and improve the service. This licence ends when the content is deleted from active systems, except for limited backups, legal retention, or content another member lawfully retains.
Do not post content you lack the right to share. Do not scrape profiles, harvest contact details, introduce malicious code, disrupt the service, bypass access controls, or use another member’s content or personal information outside the purpose for which it was shared.
Copyright or other rights concerns can be reported to arsenhrynevych@gmail.com. Please include details of the work, its location, the basis of your claim, and your contact information.
11. Moderation, reasons, and review
We may issue a warning, limit features, hide content, pause or deactivate an account, or remove access when reasonably necessary to enforce these documents, protect people, address illegal content, or preserve service reliability.
Where appropriate — and where required by applicable platform law — we will identify the affected content or account, the rule or legal basis, the main facts considered, the restriction imposed, and the available review options. We will not rely solely on automated enforcement for significant account decisions during the initial service.
You may request a review by emailing arsenhrynevych@gmail.com within 30 days. Include the decision, relevant context, and any evidence. Where reasonably possible, the request should be reviewed by someone who was not responsible for the original decision.
12. Third-party services
The service may link to or integrate with email, calendar, video, or other third-party services. Those providers’ terms and privacy notices apply. We are not responsible for third-party services we do not control, but we will identify material integrations before launch.
13. Availability, disclaimers, and responsibility
The platform is provided on an “as available” basis. To the extent permitted by law, we do not guarantee uninterrupted access, successful matches, attendance, member conduct, accuracy of advice, or particular results.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including mandatory consumer rights. Each member remains responsible for their own conduct, decisions, devices, connectivity, and interactions with other members.
14. Ending use and account data
You may stop using the service or ask us to deactivate your account at any time. Deactivation and deletion are different: account access may end while limited data remains under the retention rules in the Privacy Notice. Privacy requests remain available after deactivation.
15. Changes and general terms
We may update these Terms as the service develops. We will provide reasonable notice before a material change takes effect where appropriate. Changes will not retroactively reduce mandatory rights. If you do not accept an updated version, you should stop using the service and may request account deactivation or deletion.
If one provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply. A failure to enforce a provision once is not a permanent waiver. These Terms, the Privacy Notice, and the Community Guidelines form the agreement about the service, subject to rights that cannot be excluded by law.
